Horseshoe Bay is a broad crescent-shaped beach on Bermuda’s South Shore in Southampton Parish, named for the curve formed by its shoreline. Its pale pink sand contrasts with the blue Atlantic water, while limestone cliffs and rocky outcrops frame both ends of the beach. The shoreline is part of Bermuda’s protected coastal environment, with dunes and native vegetation growing behind the sand. Warwick Long Bay and Jobson’s Cove are within the same coastal area, while the Bermuda Railway Trail provides another way to explore the island’s landscape. Local food associated with the area reflects Bermuda’s strong connection with the sea. Seafood dishes such as fish sandwiches, grilled fish, codfish and potatoes, and Bermuda fish chowder are widely found across the island, while cassava pie is another traditional Bermudian dish. Horseshoe Bay also has a distinctive seasonal feature: its calm shallows can provide nursery habitat for young sea turtles, while the beach and surrounding coves are used by seabirds and other coastal wildlife.
